BGCSDC ribbon cuttingThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties recently celebrated the completion of the new 23,000-sq ft Steven and Marjolaine Townsend Campus in North Port, Florida, for the Gene Mathews Boys & Girls Club. The ribbon cutting ceremony marked a new chapter for the youth of North Port, as the previous facility was devastated by Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Florida Community Loan Fund is a proud NMTC financing partner of the Gene Mathews Boys & Girls Club’s new state-of-the-art facility. Designed to serve up to 350 members – 100 more members than the previous facility could accommodate – The Steven and Marjolaine Townsend Campus is equipped with modernized education classrooms, enrichment space, a technology lab, and a cafeteria. In addition, the new Club will accommodate expanded programming, such as a commercial teaching kitchen, a detailed teen center including a youth entrepreneur program, a college and career prep center, and more.
