Sunshine State Development of South Florida, Inc. was established in 2013 to acquire and develop residential properties in South Florida. When construction was stalled due to COVID-19 on an affordable housing project in North Miami, Sunshine State stepped in to work with the City and bring the project to completion.
With financing from Florida Community Loan Fund, Sunshine State Development of South Florida is finalizing construction on a 2-story building that includes 5 affordable apartments for rent with a focus on area seniors. The project, NOMI Lofts, is in the City of North Miami in a low-income, high poverty neighborhood. The area is well served with major roads and commercial activity nearby. This project will provide affordable housing in an area that is experiencing a surge in high-end development activity that will likely contribute to rising rents and possible displacement of low-income households.
Additional funding for the project is provided by the City of North Miami, its CRA, and Miami-Dade County.
