Florida AHCA Holds Public Workshops July 5 & 6

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) will host 2 public meetings to solicit public input on an upcoming request for Florida’s 1115 Managed Medical Assistance (MMA) Waiver.

If your organization is a provider of supportive housing and/or services to those with severe mental illness or substance abuse, these public meetings may be of interest to you.

The funding that will be discussed includes possible approval to pay for flexible services for persons with severe mental illness or substance abuse disorders, possibly including temporary housing assistance. The state is also considering implementation of a pilot program that would provide additional behavioral health services and supportive housing assistance for persons 21+ with serious mental illness, substance use disorder, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to their disability.

Full information is available on the AHCA website, here.

Meetings will be held in Largo on July 5 and in Orlando on July 6.

In 2016, Florida Community Loan Fund reported on studies related to the lack of housing for special needs populations in Florida. The information that FCLF staff shared with Florida legislators on this topic is available here.
