Mid-Florida Housing Partnership Awarded TD Bank Housing for Everyone Grant

Mid-Florida Housing Partnership receives $100,000 grant through 2013 Housing For Everyone Grant

midfloridahousingpartnership-300wTD Charitable Foundation awards a total of $2.5 million in grants to support affordable housing initiatives.

 

Mid-Florida Housing Partnership (MFHP), based in Daytona Beach, Florida, was awarded $100,000 in the recent TD Charitable Foundation's 2013 Housing For Everyone program. MFHP was one of 3 grant recipients in Florida. A total of $2.5 million in grants was awarded from Maine to Florida to support affordable housing initiatives. Organizations receiving grants were required to have tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status and to develop or maintain affordable housing, or provide housing-related programs and services to very low-, low- and moderate-income individuals or families.

MFHP serves Volusia and Flagler Counties, providing first time homebuyer education classes, HUD-certified credit counseling, budget counseling and other services. MFHP also operates a transitional homeless facility, Palmetto House, in Daytona Beach.

palmettoplace-300x200The Palmetto House, with 48 rooms, is the largest temporary housing facility in Volusia and Flagler Counties. It offers temporary housing for homeless families and individuals with the goal of transitioning to permanent housing, usually within 24 months. Residents receive supportive services, which can include alcohol/drug abuse counseling, mental health service referrals, life skills and counseling. Florida Community Loan Fund provided financing for the Palmetto House.

Fran Gordon, Executive Director of Mid-Florida Housing Partnership, has been a long-time volunteer with Florida Community Loan Fund. She has served on FCLF's board of directors, including as Chair of the board, and several standing committees. She is currently a member of the Florida Community New Markets Fund Advisory Board.
