South Florida Community Development Coalition (SFCDC) is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to building communities and developing assets in Miami-Dade County. The organization achieves its goals through expanding the capacity of community development practitioners to develop affordable housing and economic opportunities.
Earlier this month, SFCDC hosted a free marketing workshop titled "Positioning Your Brand for Success: Doing More with Your Nonprofit Marketing Resources." Leading the workshop were Lisa Junkerman, MBA, Principal and Chief Marketing Officer of Chief Marketing Associates, Inc., and Janet de Guehery, Communications and Marketing Manager of Florida Community Loan Fund.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
- What is a brand? An overview of marketing vs. branding vs. logo
- Effectively telling your organization's story across all channels
- Tips and hints for optimizing social media
- Leveraging content management and all your marketing resources, and measuring results
Participants learned:
- how best practices marketing can further their organizatio's mission and build their brand
- how to use resources and investments effectively through "smarter marketing"
- how to optimize marketing and branding, whether they have 5 minutes a day or 40 hours a week
