SOUTHWEST REGION
FCLF LOAN: $755,250
LAND ACQUISITION LOAN
97 single family rental homes
"Without the ability to acquire a loan from FCLF to purchase land, we might not have been able to move forward with the farmworker development." – Peter Routsis-Arroyo, CEO, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc.
Catholic Charities Housing, Diocese of Venice, Inc., was formed in 2004 to provide quality, affordable housing for families in the Arcadia, Florida area. The Casa San Juan Bosco development is one way to address the serious lack of affordable and safe housing in Southwest Florida. After the 2004 devastating hurricane seasons, the need for low-income housing became even more serious.
The land for the Casa San Juan Bosco community was purchased through a loan provided by Florida Community Loan Fund. Casa San Juan Bosco completed Phase 1 and opened 53 homes to farmworker families in January 2013. This beautiful affordable housing project for farmworker families includes single detached family homes, a community center, playground and soccer field. The completion of Phase 2 brought the total number of homes in the neighborhood to 97. All homes include a subsidy for each tenant that will be provided by the USDA, which will make the rent very affordable.
