60 units Affordable and Supportive Housing
“Griffin Lofts, which will serve the most vulnerable families in Lakeland, would not be possible without a mission-driven lender like FCLF. We are so grateful to FCLF for supporting Griffin Lofts and for sharing Carrfour’s commitment to transforming lives through housing.” – Stephanie Berman-Eisenberg, President/CEO
Carrfour Supportive Housing provides permanent affordable housing and supportive services for the homeless. Started in Miami-Dade in 1993, CSH has since expanded to other cities across Florida where the need is great. To date, the organization has developed and operates almost 2,000 units of supportive housing.
With financing from Florida Community Loan Fund, Carrfour Supportive Housing is building Griffin Lofts in Lakeland, Florida. Griffin Lofts will offer affordable housing and supportive housing through 60 rental apartments: 30 units will be reserved for formerly homeless households or adults with a disabling condition and include supportive services, and the remaining 30 will be affordable for low-income households earning less than 60% of area median income (AMI). The project will also include common areas that foster a sense of community, including meeting space (indoors and outdoors), library, computer lab, and exercise room. Supportive services on site will be provided by Carrfour and other partners. Carrfour is also partnering with local homeless service providers to offer housing at Griffin Lofts.
The apartment community is located in an area of growth, with close proximity to Interstate 4 and convenient to neighborhood shopping, employment, educational, and medical facilities. The median family income for this area is 56% of AMI, or an estimated $33,700 annually. The census tract is majority minority with 31% of families living at or below the poverty level. Griffin Lofts will remain affordable for at least 50 years in accordance with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
Griffin Lofts will bring significant impact to its community, bringing affordable housing as well as supportive services for a highly vulnerable population of individuals who need those services to live independently.
