Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County (SPBC) works in Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and Boca Raton. Since the organization was established in 1991, over 120 families have been helped to purchase safe, decent and affordable homes. In the past 2 years alone, Habitat SPBC has helped with 15 homes.
With financing from Florida Community Loan Fund (FCLF), Habitat SPBC will purchase the office building in downtown Delray Beach that was formerly leased. Buying the building will free up resources to go more directly to the community and to low-income families who live there.

Here is additional information from Habitat SPBC's website:
Habitat SPBC depends on volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money, materials, services and property to fulfill our mission. Habitat homeowners qualify for an interest-free mortgage, make a modest down payment, and put in 400 hours of "sweat equity" on their home and the homes of other Habitat families. Our families also attend workshops on financial management, home maintenance, and similar subjects to prepare them for the responsibilities of homeownership. The mortgages paid by Habitat homeowners in turn help to fund the construction of additional homes in our community.
The positive impact of Habitat homeownership is extensive. Stable homeownership increases Palm Beach County's tax base, helps stabilize our school system, and helps revitalize our communities. With safe, decent, and affordable housing, families have security and stability, and are better able to concentrate on parenting, education, and community involvement.
Habitat SPBC is a Neighborhood Revitalization Affiliate; nationwide less than 250 Habitat for Humanity affiliates have a Neighborhood Revitalization program (NRP). NR helps families escape from unsafe and unhealthy living conditions. NRP services could include painting, landscaping, and/or critical home repairs to qualified homeowners in our service area. To learn more about NRP, please go to our website. First steps are to qualify, then fill out the pre-application online.
Habitat SPBC participates in Veterans Build, Habitat for Humanity's national initiative to provide housing solutions and volunteer and employment opportunities to U.S. veterans, military service members and their families.
