Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, or NHSSF, is a non-profit organization that helps families in South Florida find a home, providing them with a foundation and a sense of security. Empowering individuals, creating affordable housing opportunities, and revitalizing neighborhoods - these are the building blocks upon which NHSSF is founded.
The Rio Palma building, in the Little Havana section of Miami, was built in 1925 and provides 18 apartments for low- and moderate-income families. The building was recently renovated, including new high-impact windows, solar powered water heaters, new HVAC, appliances and flooring.
A loan from FCLF's Florida Preservation Fund will help NHSSF keep these 2-bedroom apartment homes affordable, with access to good schools and low area crime rates. NHSSF also offers services for the residents, such as job training, homebuyer education, and financial fitness.
